It is always good to discuss and debate; it is what differentiates us humans from most other species, but given the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's (SEC) governance on companies offering securities for sale to the public must tell the truth about their business, the securities they are selling, and the investment risks. And those who sell and trade securities and offer advice to investors – such as brokers-dealers, investment advisers, and exchanges – must treat investors fairly and honestly then their decision to allow USA investors to invest into exchange traded products (ETP's) referencing crypto related currencies is a good idea or just the pressure on those that want to issue those securities, make markets (provide market liquidity) or just speculate for their own accounts with their own monies or with the monies gathered from outside investors forced the hand of the SEC to allow this to now take place (The Securities and Exchange Commission on 10/01/2024 approved the first Bitcoin exchange-traded funds).

With the above in mind, there is a real lust for these crypto-related currencies, but my question is: has the real money been made by those who originated them and initially held onto them, as well as those companies that jumped on the bandwagon to now make markets in them or have a trading facility (like those of Coinbase, Kraken, etc.) established captured the real gains? Will it be the case that the dumb money is now chasing the smart money that has already gotten off a possible train crash? There is no mistaking that the performance of the below crypto-related currencies has mostly been impressive against what I have chosen to compare them to, other than Polygon, but this chart is only for the year beginning in January 2023 and beginning this week.

The below chart captures the same above performance comparisons, but for the past 5 years. here it can be seen the enormous rise of Polygon and Solana.
