Welcome to my T Zia Compliance blog, where I am aim to write about general economics, financial markets (securities across asset classes) and topics and themes around financial regulations and laws. The aim of this blog is to be easy to read and understand for those who are not finance professionals, you won't need to have a finance background, but hopefully you follow the news both mainstream and those alternative channels the internet has brought to the attention of readers, so this blog should bring some new views and highlights other areas where readers have not read much or anything at all.

I’m a UK finance undergraduate and post finance graduate who graduated in 1997, but I personally started investing back in 1991, when there was no internet, and getting financial markets information for an non-employed finance person was costly and difficult. I have seen many market cycles and seen and experienced a lot of nonsense that comes from those employed in the financial services industry. I am also highly critical of the effectiveness of financial services regulations and oversight, which stems from my undergraduate studies.

I have a strong interest in the transparency, efficiency and practical workings of financial markets and the regulations and laws that are meant to govern and oversee them in order to have a level playing field for all participants and punish crime. This does not always happen and over the decades many themes have arisen to illustrate this as does the vested interests who guard their advantages and privileges well.

This blog may at times concentrate on movements and performance of various securities across different asset classes, but does not provide any form of recommendations or investment advice, those who do take an interest need to do their own research and get advice from those who are currently authorised by their home state regulator to provide such services to their own clients (customers).

I also maintain a mastodon.social account found at @tziaCompliance in addition to my website www.tzia-compliance.com.

Even though I’m called compliance which has been my effective occupation for last 18 or so years, I am a qualified investment manager and investment advisor under the UK RDR rules, long before those rules came into existence. I am not registered with the FCA now and work mainly doing consulting work around compliance. I however maintain interest in general economics, politics and financial markets.

Thanks for reading. T Zia
